The Evil Dead Movie Series is the First Franchise to Introduce Me to Extreme Gore

Credit to  Evil Dead Theory:Evil Dead (1981) is set in it’s own universe : r/EvilDead I was in shock the first time I watched The Evil Dead . I had seen so many gory horror films before I had begun to watch The Evil Dead franchise. I couldn't believe how violent this series was, and I fell in love with how creative and insane the kills were.  I really came to love splatterpunk gore, it can be entertaining if given to the right director, and as long as the gore is used to progress the story, I'm totally fine with crazy deaths.  Cause let's face it, throwing in crazy gore without a decent story can become pretty boring very quickly.  Luckily, The Evil Dead is a damn great franchise that never fails to surprise me.  Heck, the TV show is one hell of a ride.  In one of the best scenes in this franchise, there is a part where Ash, the main character, and his companions decide to visit a diner, but they are attacked by demons.  Literally every single character who isn't o

Return of the Living Dead 3 is a Tragic Zombie Romance

The Return of the Living Dead trilogy has always been severely underrated when it comes to the zombie concept. These zombies are impossible to kill, and they can be intelligent when it comes to their own survival.

While the first film will always be considered a cult classic, the second film a forgotten sequel, the third film does hold the heartstrings of horror fans.

Return of the Living Dead 3 focuses on a young couple, named Curt and Julie. They are young and in love, and when Julie is killed in a tragic motorcycle accident; Kurt loses his mind.

Kurt decides to bring her back from the dead, and breaks into a government lab that his father works for.

The lab contains zombies, and he uses a special kind of smoke that the government has been using to wake the dead. Julie comes back to life in Kurt’s arms, but unfortunately; this is not a happy beginning.

Julie immediately starts to give in to her human flesh cravings, wanting to eat anyone that isn’t Kurt.

The couple constantly struggle to look after Julie’s wellbeing and hunger, but despite the shortcomings; they still love each other.

These moments were the best part of the film by far.

While the gore was amazing and so disgusting to look at, the main aspect of the film was the love story between Kurt and Julie.

I was so shocked that Kurt was willing to put up with Julie’s growing insanity. He still remained totally head over heels in love with her throughout the film, until the very end.

I couldn’t believe that Kurt was even willing to die with Julie, proceeding to burn themselves alive; so that they can both rest in peace together.

It was a bold move to end the film like that, especially when Kurt’s own father witnessed his death!

It was a great end to the Return of the Living Dead trilogy.

I think Return of the Living Dead 3 needs a much bigger fanbase. The film did have a lot of dumb moments with character decisions, but it is easy to overlook, due to the amazing gory scenes and the love story.

Kurt and Julie have now been deemed as one of the best zombie romance stories ever made in my eyes.

They took the ‘death till we part’ right to the core, and they died together.

How romantic.
