The Evil Dead Movie Series is the First Franchise to Introduce Me to Extreme Gore

Credit to  Evil Dead Theory:Evil Dead (1981) is set in it’s own universe : r/EvilDead I was in shock the first time I watched The Evil Dead . I had seen so many gory horror films before I had begun to watch The Evil Dead franchise. I couldn't believe how violent this series was, and I fell in love with how creative and insane the kills were.  I really came to love splatterpunk gore, it can be entertaining if given to the right director, and as long as the gore is used to progress the story, I'm totally fine with crazy deaths.  Cause let's face it, throwing in crazy gore without a decent story can become pretty boring very quickly.  Luckily, The Evil Dead is a damn great franchise that never fails to surprise me.  Heck, the TV show is one hell of a ride.  In one of the best scenes in this franchise, there is a part where Ash, the main character, and his companions decide to visit a diner, but they are attacked by demons.  Literally every single character who isn't o

The Alice in Zombieland Book Series is the Most Creative Zombie Concept Ever Made

There have been so many different variations of zombies over the years.

Fast zombies, zombies that are able to undergo a number of transformations, smart zombies that are able to form a pile to climb over a wall; we pretty much have seen it all!

Then I was introduced to the Alice in Zombieland book series written by Gena Showalter on my 15th birthday. I was instantly smitten with the book in front of me. I began to read the story, and I couldn’t believe my eyes.

This was the best depiction of zombies ever created.

Alice in Zombieland is like a parody of Alice in Wonderland. The story is about a girl named Alice (obviously) that loses her entire family in a horrible car accident.

She starts anew with her grandparents and going to a new school. She is struggling with several factors in her life:

  • The loss of her family
  • Feeling like a burden for her grandparents
  • Having visions of dead people following her

Alice assumes she is just crazy, but then she realizes that the visions are real. She gets all her answers when she meets a group of zombie slayers, and they explain to her the whole situation.

The zombies are actual spirits that are able to walk through any object. If they sense your fear, you will begin to feel yourself getting eaten from the inside out.

Only zombie slayers are able to see the zombies, and they are trained to leave their own bodies to become spirits to take down the creatures.

It’s a grisly sight to imagine random citizens who have no clue as to why they are suddenly feeling unimaginable pain radiating from their skin and bones. It’s a great concept.

Creatures that you can’t see are eating you alive.

Awesome!

No. Not really.

Everyone who wants a bit of cool zombie lore should consider reading this story. It’s a fantastic blend of comedy, horror, gore, monsters, humanity, twists, and pure evil. All horror fans would love this story!

Thank you for reading!
