The Evil Dead Movie Series is the First Franchise to Introduce Me to Extreme Gore

Credit to  Evil Dead Theory:Evil Dead (1981) is set in it’s own universe : r/EvilDead I was in shock the first time I watched The Evil Dead . I had seen so many gory horror films before I had begun to watch The Evil Dead franchise. I couldn't believe how violent this series was, and I fell in love with how creative and insane the kills were.  I really came to love splatterpunk gore, it can be entertaining if given to the right director, and as long as the gore is used to progress the story, I'm totally fine with crazy deaths.  Cause let's face it, throwing in crazy gore without a decent story can become pretty boring very quickly.  Luckily, The Evil Dead is a damn great franchise that never fails to surprise me.  Heck, the TV show is one hell of a ride.  In one of the best scenes in this franchise, there is a part where Ash, the main character, and his companions decide to visit a diner, but they are attacked by demons.  Literally every single character who isn't o

Graphics Don’t Matter in Horror Games

Stories are told through all forms of media. It’s incredible how many amazing stories exist, and several of them have become my all-time favorites. One media factor that has portrayed many stories is videogames.

Several horror games have portrayed the best stories that now hold my horror soul intact. Unfortunately, there has always been an element to games that stops many people from playing these great games.

The Graphics

For some reason, players don’t find some videogames appealing, all because the graphics look too cheap or old. Why does this matter?

Who cares if the graphics are ‘terrible?’

Shouldn’t the story itself be enough for you to consider playing the game?

There is one game that has come to light in this silly graphics argument, a horror game that I am really looking forward to upon release.

The Silent Hill 2 Remake.

A recent gameplay video and new trailer has been released for the Silent Hill 2 Remake. There has been a lot of back and forth among the opinions of Silent Hill fans, and one argument involves the new graphics.

As you can see in the photo above, it is a comparison between the old and the new Silent Hill 2. In my opinion, I love the changes. It’s a new take on the sequel of the franchise, and it looks quite promising.

Yet, there have been fans who have been really expressing their thoughts on the new game. Fans have stated they dislike the changes, and that the new developers didn’t bother with making the game look like something new for modern audiences.

Every time I hear that, I get so confused. The graphics have obviously received a huge upgrade!

Check out how awesome and real the remake looks now!

This is amazing, but people still had something to complain about!

I understand if fans complained about the movement or the models of the characters, but why the graphics?

Fans have even stated they won’t bother playing the game anymore, because they wanted the Silent Hill 2 Remake to look more realistic.

Uh…what does that mean?

Were some people expecting the game to look so real, almost like you could walk into the game itself? First of all, we don’t have that kind of technology, and second of all, it is pretty tough to make a game from scratch.

It takes a whole team to bring a game to life.

After watching so many videos online based on the making of a videogame, I have gained so much respect for the videogame industry. My naive self always assumed it was an easy task to bring a game to life.

A whole team is required to build upon the game. For example, some voice actors need to receive a complete re — model of themselves to be incorporated into the game.

The voice actors wear black suits, while acting out their characters and voicing their lines at the same time. Then the studio uses their videogame graphic skills to form the characters for the game itself.

It takes a lot of work and passion to create such an amazing project.

One example is Baldur’s Gate 3. Check out the video below if you are interested in learning about some behind the scenes of the game.

Want to know what’s crazy?

I have seen a small percentage of people online claim the graphics to Baldur’s Gate 3 sucked. How these graphics were seen as terrible is insane. Like come on, actual people were portraying the characters that fans fell in love within the game. Isn’t that real enough?

I’m aware that Baldur’s Gate 3 is not classified as a part of the horror genre, but there were a lot of horror moments presented in the storyline, so I felt I had to mention this awesome game.

So, yeah, graphics don’t matter.

What is important is the story for the game itself. The story is what makes a videogame memorable, not the graphics. We already have some unfortunate examples that prove graphics cannot save a game.

  • Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League
  • The Last of Us II
  • DmC: Devil May Cry

Warning: Don’t bother playing any of these games! Each of them were actual dumpster fires.

In other words, the stories matter! Not the graphics!
