I Can't Stand the Horror Trope of Slashers that Can 'Teleport'

Credit to  Teleportation Vector Images | Depositphotos There is one horror trope that always bothers me when it comes to several horror movies.  How the hell can a slasher be in two places at once? What I mean by that is…why do horror directors sometimes ignore how a human can move? I’ve seen several horror movies that were really great, but were ruined by a killer who was able to teleport.  That doesn’t make any sense.  Unless time travel is involved, then go for it, but a human killer can’t teleport! Where does this sudden supernatural ability come from? It’s just so…stupid. So, like, does the mask or the outfit give the killer powers or what? This is a random side rant, but I felt the need to talk about this. I recently remembered a horror movie where the killer was able to be at two places at once, while he was going after two people.  Like he somehow was able to travel across the entire city in seconds to catch up to the other victim. How??? Not even science can explain this!!!

I Found a Star Wars Horror Novel Based on Zombies and it is a Great Gore Fest

I can't believe a Star Wars horror novel actually exists!

When I first heard about it, I thought it was a joke.

Come on. No way this was real.

Then a friend showed me an actual copy of the book. Out of curiosity, I had to read this story. It was too intriguing, and I had to know if this story would be good or not.

I couldn't believe how gory and sadistic this story was. These zombies were deadly and hungry!

The story was written by Joe Schreiber, who wanted to bring a horror story to the lore of Star Wars. Apparently, he was inspired by Alien film and the Stephen King novel The Shining, to create this horror masterpiece. I really loved the entire novel and the execution of the undead. This story was really ballsy to write, and I couldn't believe that no one was given mercy in this book!

(Spoilers of story and characters)

The story follows a spaceship that consists of hardened criminals, that end up getting infected by a zombie virus. The story follows about six main characters: two brothers, a woman and a robot that worked on the ship, and our favorite Star Wars duo: Han Solo and Chewbacca.

I thought this story would immediately take a horrible dive with the inclusion of Han Solo and Chewbacca, and that they would steal the spotlight from the other main characters; but their inclusion actually did not affect the novel. The story still remained gritty and dark, and their presence was used to add to the horror of the story.

Honestly, including Han Solo and Chewbacca makes sense too. They had not yet met Princess Leia or Luke Skywalker, they were still the troublemakers that were trying to get by in space. The zombie invasion on a prison spaceship makes sense, because this story could be seen as one of their silly adventures that most likely left an imprint on their lives forever.

The two brothers added a lot of humanity to the novel. They were unfortunately placed in a terrible situation, in a place they did not belong after attempting to continue their father's business of selling inmate weapons. The exchange didn't go well, and the brothers were taken straight to prison, where they underwent horrific circumstances.

The woman, Zahara and a robot named Waste are the other two main characters who are attempting to control the virus. It doesn't go as planned, and the duo are forced to figure out how to survive this terrifying situation.

The ending of the novel is also bittersweet and sad. Not everyone makes it out alive, and the only survivors are Han Solo, Chewbacca, Zahara, and one of the brothers. Zahara and the brother say goodbye to the iconic duo, and they decide to settle on a planet where they wanted to deliver the bad news to the wife of someone that did not survive the ordeal on the prison ship.

The ending of Death Troopers was powerful, knowing that the only four people will always remember what took place on that ship is kind of haunting. I doubt that people would believe such an infection took place, and it's scary to think that ship is going to always be somewhere in space; filled with zombies craving human flesh.

Thank you for reading!
