‘Late Night with the Devil’ Delivers a Masterpiece Through an Original and Refreshing Take on the 70s in a Great Horror Concept

Credit to  Late Night with the Devil (BYOB) Tickets, Multiple Dates | Eventbrite It has been a long time since I have seen a great horror film that left me terrified from beginning to end. I will admit, it has been years since I have felt this particular fear.  Finally, after three years, I have finally found another horror film that gave me the same terror I have truly missed.  Late Night with the Devil is the must see - horror film of this year.  It is a spectacular horror concept that delivers one of the best stories and scares I have seen in a very long time. The film is about a TV host in the 70s that is determined to become the number one late night show. The host and his crew decide to embark on a dangerous ride, by having actual evil present in their studio.  Playing with fire obviously leads to utter terror among the crew and audience, leaving the viewers completely mesmerized by what the film is going to do next. This film was such a refresher for me as a horror fan.  I wat

Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow is the Perfect Gothic Horror Movie

Tim Burton has created a lot of masterpiece horror films that are visually amazing and strange!

One film that really stood out to me was Sleepy Hollow.

Sleepy Hollow is definitely a unique kind of horror film.

The story is based on Irving Washington's short story, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. Washington's version follows the story of Ichabod Crane, who falls in love with a beautiful woman named Katrina. His rival is Brom, a dude that is obviously determined to be with Crane's love interest. Unfortunately, Ichabod is never able to be with Katrina, when he is forced to go into the woods along with his horse, after learning about the horrific story of the headless horseman.

The story turns out to be true, and Ichabod is killed by the horseman, and the story ends with Brom getting married to Katrina.

However, Tim Burton's version takes on a completely different approach.

In Burton's version, Ichabod Crane is a Constable who is sent to Sleepy Hollow to figure out the huge problem that the small town is facing. Upon arrival, Crane falls in love with Katrina, a woman engaged to Brom; and he learns that a headless soldier that rides a horse is murdering people in Sleepy Hollow.

Ichabod teams up with Katrina and a child who lost his father by the headless horseman, to find a way to take down the supernatural murderer once and for all.

The environment of Sleepy Hollow is awesome to watch, it's a dreadful area to be in, and it's the perfect setting for horror fans to immerse themselves with! The fog surrounding the team is almost like a barrier, like it's a sign that the residents can never escape from the town.

The love triangle in this film is also handled lightly or seen as a whatever plot for the story when it came to Brom, Katrina, and Ichabod. The characters were only aware of the threat against their town, not a stupid love triangle that was brewing between the characters. Burton was aware that fans were looking for a great horror film, and the love story only centered around Ichabod and Katrina, played by Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci.

Their chemistry was amazing in the film, they are probably one of the most innocent couples ever portrayed in a horror film. Ichabod and Katrina are gentle souls caught in a horrible murder plot, I was rooting for them during the entirety of the film, and I loved how the only kiss we ever see is when Katrina kisses Ichabod on the cheek. It's the perfect couple for a gothic horror film, and it is probably the only 'good light' we see throughout this entire film.

The kills are gory and over the top, and I loved every moment of each death scene in Sleepy Hollow. No mercy was shown to anyone in this movie, not even children. Apparently, Tim Burton was tired of the child always surviving a horror movie trope, and he decided to include a child death; to show that no one is safe.

It definitely made the stakes much higher, and the chances of survival against the headless horseman that cannot be killed made it so much worse for the characters.

Sleepy Hollow is the perfect gothic horror movie, and it has now become one of my main movies that I watch every October!

Thank you for reading!
