I Can't Stand the Horror Trope of Slashers that Can 'Teleport'

Credit to  Teleportation Vector Images | Depositphotos There is one horror trope that always bothers me when it comes to several horror movies.  How the hell can a slasher be in two places at once? What I mean by that is…why do horror directors sometimes ignore how a human can move? I’ve seen several horror movies that were really great, but were ruined by a killer who was able to teleport.  That doesn’t make any sense.  Unless time travel is involved, then go for it, but a human killer can’t teleport! Where does this sudden supernatural ability come from? It’s just so…stupid. So, like, does the mask or the outfit give the killer powers or what? This is a random side rant, but I felt the need to talk about this. I recently remembered a horror movie where the killer was able to be at two places at once, while he was going after two people.  Like he somehow was able to travel across the entire city in seconds to catch up to the other victim. How??? Not even science can explain this!!!

Why Practical Effects Are Better Than CGI in Horror Movies

Technology has gone above and beyond for the media industry, especially when it comes to the horror genre. CGI has come a long way in developing many worlds within the horror genre, bringing amazing horror imagery to all fans.

Even though CGI has become a huge development tool for horror movies now, I still think that practical effects is much more effective.

Back in the day, CGI wasn’t at the level that it is today. Filmmakers had to stick with practical effects to make their horror experience feel authentic for their audience.

Practical effects may be considered out of date or an old tool in the Hollywood world, but it still gives fans an amazing taste into how scary these effects can be portrayed!

Practical effects have been used to create iconic monsters that have scared fans over the years.

CGI can be effective when it comes to bringing monsters to life on the big screen, but it doesn’t hold the same caliber as the real thing.

We horror fans have been given so many iconic monsters, due to practical effects!

  • Pinhead (Hellraiser)
  • Chucky
  • Jaws
  • Pumpkinhead
  • Killer Klowns from Outer Space
  • The Blob
  • The Thing

And so on.

Imagining any of these creatures slathered in CGI is not a wonderous thought. Not having the real thing definitely takes me out of the horror film, and I don’t think we fans would have felt the same love for them as we do now!

Practical effects require more passion and effort to bring a horror movie to the big screen!

To say that using practical effects is easy to use in a horror movie is an understatement. It takes a lot of work, and a strong love for the horror genre to create something so unique!

I can’t fathom how long it takes for a movie studio to create something by hand for every single scene in their film. I’m sure it can be frustrating at times, but the payoff is always worth it in the end!

No matter how stupid or great the plot is in the horror film, the practical effects will always be there to make the film look great!

Practical effects can bring a whole new level of terror to horror fans!

Practical effects can make that monster or person that was created by a team of people by hand downright frightening.

Imagine being able to place your hand in the mouth of your favorite horror monster standing in front of you.

It’s obviously not real, but the thought of that puppet being used in a horror movie to consume human flesh isn’t exactly a ray of sunshine. It’s scary; having the real thing in front of you is a different level of fear!

Without these amazing effects, we horror fans never would have gotten to have the great horror icons that we know and love today!

So yeah, practical effects are better than CGI.
