The Evil Dead Movie Series is the First Franchise to Introduce Me to Extreme Gore

Credit to  Evil Dead Theory:Evil Dead (1981) is set in it’s own universe : r/EvilDead I was in shock the first time I watched The Evil Dead . I had seen so many gory horror films before I had begun to watch The Evil Dead franchise. I couldn't believe how violent this series was, and I fell in love with how creative and insane the kills were.  I really came to love splatterpunk gore, it can be entertaining if given to the right director, and as long as the gore is used to progress the story, I'm totally fine with crazy deaths.  Cause let's face it, throwing in crazy gore without a decent story can become pretty boring very quickly.  Luckily, The Evil Dead is a damn great franchise that never fails to surprise me.  Heck, the TV show is one hell of a ride.  In one of the best scenes in this franchise, there is a part where Ash, the main character, and his companions decide to visit a diner, but they are attacked by demons.  Literally every single character who isn't o

Sleepy Hollow is the Perfect Horror Film for the Halloween Season

Warning: This article will contain major spoilers for Sleepy Hollow

You know those horror movies that you can’t help but watch over and over during the month of October?

That is what Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow is for me. This film is in my top 5 best horror movies to watch during Halloween.

I have probably seen this film every single year in October, and I can’t even count how many times I have now watched this movie. I just can’t get tired of it, because of how awesome the horror is presented in this film!

Sleepy Hollow is a combination of a slasher, ghosts, witches, a murder mystery, and even resembles a gothic Victorian horror tale, similar to Edgar Allan Poe’s own horror stories!

And of course, we can’t forget the romance subplot in Sleepy Hollow, that features one of the cutest horror couples in horror history!

The story of Sleepy Hollow follows the story of Ichabod Crane, a constable who is sent to the small town of Sleepy Hollow to investigate a string of mysterious murders.

As he continues his detective work, he comes to learn that something far sinister is taking place in the town, that could involve an evil supernatural entity known as the headless horseman…

The headless horseman is a powerful ghost that comes from Hell itself to wreak havoc and bring death upon any victim he targets.

The headless horseman racks up a huge death count in this film.

He emerges from a creepy looking tree that he uses as his portal to Earth, where he comes from Hell to bring nothing but chaos to Sleepy Hollow.

He goes after any victim, and chops off their heads to take back with him to bury deep within his tree.

At some point he even murders an entire family…and a kid. Like bruh, why?

Why is he doing this?

Could the headless horseman be angry and seeking revenge against an innocent town, just because he happened to have been murdered there many years ago during a war?

It sounds like a lot for poor Ichabod Crane to deal with, huh?

Luckily, he gains several allies to help him with this murder mystery, including one person that he falls in love with…which brings me to my personal favorite reason as to why I love this film so much.

Ichabod Crane falls in love with Katrina Van Tassel during this terrible ordeal.

I don’t think I have ever adored a couple like this in a horror film. Watching Ichabod and Katrina meet for the first time was beautiful, and it’s so obvious that they instantly fall for one another.

Crane led a broken childhood when he was quite young. He lost his mother in such a horrific way at the age of 7.

Once his father discovers that his mother is a witch, he decides to kill her by placing her in a medieval torture device.

This part honestly scared me when I was a kid. Poor Crane was traumatized.

He appears to find closure finally with Katrina, telling her of his horrid past, as she comforts him.

At this point in the film, it was made clear that Crane and Katrina were in love, giving Crane another reason to take down the headless horseman once and for all.

Sorry about this random rant with this couple, I couldn’t help myself. They are the reason why I always go back to this movie…

It is also through Katrina toward the end of the film that Ichabod learns who is really behind the murders of Sleepy Hollow, and the twist is quite insane…

The headless horseman is being controlled by an evil witch that is seeking revenge against several families in the town.

I loved this twist in this film. It was pretty unexpected, and I thought it was a great add on for this wonderful horror film.

It turns out that Katrina’s own stepmother, is the one behind these murders. She initiates her revenge against several people from different families for what she endured as a child at the hands of Katrina’s own family name.

She goes after Katrina as the last family member to die, so that her revenge will be completed. Ichabod (of course), comes to her rescue.

With the help of his allies that he forms a strong bond with, they save Katrina and attempt to escape from the headless horseman and the stepmother.

They win the fight, and Katrina’s stepmother is taken to Hell along with the headless horseman, as she dies in fear.

Now that is what I call the ultimate karma.

Then the film ends happily as Ichabod and Katrina start their life together.

As you can see, I think I’m a tad bit obsessed with this innocent couple. Katrina and Crane are so freaking cute in this movie!

The movie overall is of course, freaking fantastic. The horror elements work quite well, and the gore is surprisingly pretty crazy!

The practical effects in this movie are on point, I was so impressed with how great the headless horseman looked in this film!

Sleepy Hollow is the perfect Halloween film for the spooky season, that features all of your favorite parts that make up the horror genre!
