The Evil Dead Movie Series is the First Franchise to Introduce Me to Extreme Gore

Credit to  Evil Dead Theory:Evil Dead (1981) is set in it’s own universe : r/EvilDead I was in shock the first time I watched The Evil Dead . I had seen so many gory horror films before I had begun to watch The Evil Dead franchise. I couldn't believe how violent this series was, and I fell in love with how creative and insane the kills were.  I really came to love splatterpunk gore, it can be entertaining if given to the right director, and as long as the gore is used to progress the story, I'm totally fine with crazy deaths.  Cause let's face it, throwing in crazy gore without a decent story can become pretty boring very quickly.  Luckily, The Evil Dead is a damn great franchise that never fails to surprise me.  Heck, the TV show is one hell of a ride.  In one of the best scenes in this franchise, there is a part where Ash, the main character, and his companions decide to visit a diner, but they are attacked by demons.  Literally every single character who isn't o

Should Hoard Be Considered as a Horror Movie?

I have recently watched the movie Hoard, that was finally released online for me to purchase and check out. After watching this film, I'm curious if maybe we could consider it as a horror film. Maybe it's more along the lines of a psychological horror, that follows the story of a girl named Maria.

In the beginning of the film, we see how her childhood was like. It wasn't exactly perfect. Her school life sucks, she lives in a hoarding home, and she unfortunately has to deal with other terrifying dangers outside of her home at a young age.

Luckily, her mother's love is what keeps her fine. Until one of the hoard piles in her home collapses on top of her mother. Maria is then taken away to live in a foster home, where she is adopted and grows up. Maria is now 18 years old and is now happy from the looks of it.

She has a best friend, she is a free spirit, and she is loved by her the woman that adopted her.

Then her trauma catches up with her, when she finds herself drawn to trash. Hoarding was the only way for her to remember her mother by, and she views trash almost like a sign of love. Then her life gets even more crazy when she meets a man named Michael, who shares her interests with her to win her heart.

Maria's life continues to spiral back into her mental illness of becoming a hoarder. It's a pretty sad tale and is so hard to watch in some scenes. The performances feel way too real, and you will feel bad for so many characters in this film.

Hoard is a great movie, that is in my opinion, secretly disguised as a horror movie.
